Jose Suarez Extends Surge, But Angels’ Offense Stifled Again in Loss to Astros
Angels fall to 43-72 on the season with the 3-1 loss in Houston
Suarez Continues Dominance on the Mound
Jose Suarez has been one of the Angels’ most consistent and reliable pitchers this season, and he continued his surge on the mound on Thursday night against the Astros. The left-hander tossed six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out five batters.
Suarez’s outing was a continuation of his recent dominance. Over his last six starts, he has now pitched 39 innings while allowing just three earned runs. He has struck out 31 batters and walked just seven during that stretch.
Despite Suarez’s strong performance, the Angels offense was unable to provide him with any support. The Angels managed just three hits off Astros starter Luis Garcia, who pitched seven strong innings.
The Angels had a chance to tie the game in the ninth inning, but Mike Trout grounded out with runners on first and second.
With the loss, the Angels fell to 43-72 on the season. They will look to avoid a sweep when they face the Astros again on Friday night.
