Columbia’s Maury Regional Medical Center expansion approved

$203 million project is set to transform Maury Regional Medical Center

Maury Regional Medical Center has received final approval for its $203 million expansion project. The project includes a new patient tower, expanded emergency department and a new cancer center. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2025.

The new patient tower will add 96 beds to the hospital, increasing its total capacity to 389 beds. The expanded emergency department will double in size and include a new trauma center. The new cancer center will provide comprehensive cancer care services, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgical oncology.

The expansion is expected to create 200 new jobs and have a $300 million annual economic impact on Maury County

“This is a historic day for Maury Regional Medical Center and Maury County,” said Jay Vanderbilt, CEO of Maury Regional Health. “This expansion will allow us to continue to provide our community with the best possible healthcare.”

The project has been in the planning stages for several years and was approved by the Maury County Commission in 2021. The hospital has raised $50 million in private donations for the project and has secured a $153 million loan from the Tennessee Hospital Association.

The expansion is part of Maury Regional Health’s long-term strategic plan to invest in its facilities and services

“This expansion is a testament to our commitment to providing our community with the best possible healthcare,” said Vanderbilt. “We are excited to see this project come to fruition and continue to serve the people of Maury County for years to come.”

The expansion project is expected to begin in early 2023 and be completed in 2025. The new patient tower is expected to open in 2024 and the new cancer center is expected to open in 2025.
